Dear Sir/Madam,

Imagine your spouse or your child is seriously ill …

There is a natural remedy which is innocuous and devoid of side effects, which might cure him/her … BUT the European Union does its utmost to keep you in the dark.

On the contrary, regulatory Authorities encourage you to give him/her chemical drugs with potentially extremely serious side effects.

 You are in their hands.

This absurd nightmare is an impending reality, threatening the whole of Europe and its inhabitants, you and I included.

After years of lobbying, the agro and pharma-industry is about to reach its target. A drastic measure taken by the European Union will soon deprive us of thousands of natural health products. At the precise moment when people all over the continent of Europe are becoming aware of our devastating exposure to junk food, and of the importance of a diet including essential nutriments, in order to prevent and cure diseases, this European Regulation, 1924/2006/CE, forbids natural health product manufacturers to inform the public about the  potentially favourable effects of their products.

As a consequence not only will information no longer be available, but this Regulation will drive out of business thousands of small producers, which in all likelihood will entail a collapse in the quality and diversity of food products, and, above all, a spectacular price increase.

Should public Authorities want to keep us sick – and addicted to chemical drugs – they would not act otherwise.

If Regulation 1924/2006/CE is implemented : trace elements, minerals, vitamins, fatty acids, essential amino acids, will become out of reach for most people.

Penalties of imprisonment will be laid down for offenders.

This is an unprecedented challenge to our right to care for our own health.

And the aim of all this is perfectly clear :

To secure profits by the billions of euros for the pharmaceutical industry in the years to come, by forcing patients to use their petrochemical drugs in the absence of any alternative.

But there is hope :

A few weeks ago the European Commission has retained the possibility of challenging this Rule according to the ‘popular initiative referendum‘ procedure as laid down by article 11 of the Treaty on European Union, this article having been introduced by the Treaty of Lisbon.

A coalition is being organized at the European level to collect these signatures. This is an immense challenge because for it to succeed we need a million signatures.

But we are 492 million European citizens, and if we join our forces we can succeed !! Already in the Netherlands an association has obtained government support after having collected 25,000 signatures.

This is why I ask you to sign the following petition, as set up by the Institut pour la Protection de la Santé Naturelle in France.

Meanwhile we intervene directly at the European Commission level to persuade them.

But without the signature of a million European citizens we will probably not be able to stop the implementation of this Rule, which seriously imperils our health, and that of future generations.

What is exactly this Regulation 1924/2006/CE about, and why is it so dangerous ?

Rule 1924/2006/CE provides for a compulsory approval procedure for natural health products with therapeutic indications (for the prevention or cure of diseases) : trace elements, minerals, vitamins, fatty acids, essential amino acids – all nutriments which are absolutely essential to keep our body in good health would be affected.

Whereas all these products were until now sold over the counter, as long as they were innocuous, the European Union has decided to prohibit on principle any kind of consumer information about the therapeutical benefits they could expect from them.

The only exception pertains to therapeutical indications the EFSA (European Food Safety Agency) officials will have unilaterally decided to authorise, without having to account for their decisions.

This is as if car dealers were prohibited to tell you the power, or number of seats, of the models they sell. In their place a European official would decide what they are entitled to tell you.

As you will understand this new European Regulation puts in the hands of a few well-connected persons in Brussels a weapon of mass destruction to favour their ‘friends’ from Big Business.

According to Rule 1924/2006/CE ordinary citizens like you and I will no longer decide which companies will win, but the European Union will – and this in the utmost opacity, thanks to improper ‘sweetheart deals’.

This is the wildest ‘hold-up’ ever staged on our health, and our lives.

And to avoid triggering revolt among citizens, the European Union acts in the stealthiest manner : instead of officially excluding small producers, it leaves them the option of assembling files for ‘applications for approval’.

But there is worse to come, small producers will have to:

Collect expert reports, studies, dossiers which cost tens of thousands of euros, then wait for several years (the Special Committee takes on average 4 years to deliver an opinion), with 95 % of dossiers refused, without the slightest justification, this will lead to mass bankruptcy for the most determined, who had decided to play the game !

Quite simply, among 4,640 dossiers filed in 2008, only 222 have been authorised today !

EFSA has even forbidden to indicate that prunes have a laxative effect, requiring that previous tests be carried out, involving thousands of participants !!

This Regulation amounts de facto to killing in the bud one of the main, and most promising, sectors of alternative therapies : cellular medicine, orthomolecular medicine, nutrition and micro-nutrition, all these new therapies use target-specific nutriments. They make it possible to restore the main elements of balance in the organism, and this in a natural fashion and without side effects, contrary to chemical drugs.

But if we do not succeed in collecting one million signatures urgently, this new field of medicine could be killed in the bud, sealing the fate of future generations, and their subjugation to the official ‘health system’.

A member of the European Parliament has testified to this disaster on Rue 89, a news site:

‘To this day over 95% of allegation dossiers as filed for herbal products have been faced with a negative opinion from EFSA. Being too strict and with procedures which are modelled on those in use for drugs, EFSA takes a decision based on very few data, and rejects allegations which nevertheless have been approved in several European countries’.

Now all natural products with therapeutic indications which will not have been approved will have to be removed from sale as of September, 2012 in the whole of Europe.

Timing for this Regulation is no coincidence. This is indeed urgent.

The pharmaceutical industry needs this Directive to ensure the continuation of its dominant position, at a time when this is radically called into question. Its credibility has been strongly damaged by the Vioxx, Avandia, Médiator, and now Buflomédil scandals. Specialists speak of dozens, or hundreds, of toxic drugs which ought to be forbidden.

This is why it is more than urgent for the pharmaceutical industry to suppress any possible alternative. And this new European Regulation represents for them the Holy Grail, which will guarantee its billions in annual profits, and this for decades.

Time for outrage ! Sign the petition herebelow !

These new rules they want to impose upon us represent the suppression of a centuries-old principle in our country. For time immemorial foods, nutriments and natural health products could be freely offered and consumed, except of course if they might be toxic.

Authorities exercised their legitimate right : to protect consumers against possible dangers. But the European Union claims to do the opposite : to use its power to impose upon us the products it wants us to consume.

This is no paranoia : the Government of Canada, against the will of the people and of its own Parliament, has imposed in 2004 a system which is similar to that which the European Union wants to enforce.

In a few months more than 20,000 articles of natural health products have disappeared from organic store shelves. The public has has to rely on the few ‘standard’ products, which are sold, as luck would have it … by the large multinational companies !

By contrast, in the United States, citizens have risen against abuse by Government, and have succeeded in 2007 in obtaining the DSHEA ( Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act ) legislation. This Bill, which guarantees transparency in consumer information, has triggered an incredible budding in the supply of natural health products, whose quality, diversity and availability have spectacularly increased.

Let us take citizens’ movements as are found elsewhere as an example, and let us stop Rule 1924/2006/CE.

I told you : there is a new petition procedure before the European Parliament, which makes it possible to obtain bills on issues of concern to us. This procedure has entered into force as of April, 2012.

This opportunity should not be lost.

To that effect we must collect one million signatures from 7 different European countries.

This is why I ask you to sign the petition as issued by the Institut pour la Protection de la Santé Naturelle.

Do not forget to send this page to all your contacts in every European country. This must be a mass mobilisation.

Only by actively promoting our rights can we stop the joint initiative of multinational pharmaceutical companies and the European Union.

In politics, there is an old saying : ‘Silence means consent‘.

If you do not make your voice heard by signing the petition, European bureaucrats will conclude that no one cares about their new Regulation.

They will therefore think that this stupendous gift to the pharmaceutical industry has attracted nobody’s attention or indignation.

Therefore, please, express yourselves, for this is the moment of truth. And once you have signed your petition, please transfer this message to all your friends and acquaintances. Tell them it is time to act.
